"Hi True Sake Newsletter Readers!
Nancy Matsumoto here, the co-author, along with Michael Tremblay, of “Rice, Water, Earth: Exploring the World of Japanese Craft Sake.” I'm so excited to be visiting True Sake—for the first time, believe it or not! Although I don't get to the Bay Area too often, I grew up in Southern California in a typical Japanese American family. We were not a big sake-drinking family, so my introduction to Japan's national drink came later, when I was living in New York City and began writing about the emerging sake scene there. That dovetailed with my interest in Japanese language, culture and history, and my own roots. So three sake certifications and a move to Toronto later, Michael and I teamed up to write our book. I'm grateful that Beau-san carries it at True Sake, and for playing an important role in creating the book: he served as one of three expert readers of the manuscript, giving us valuable feedback. The book really is a collaborative process involving so many amazing people in the sake world. I hope you'll stop by!"
