The “Beau-Zone” Layer – Harada “Brew Master”
From Yamagata Prefecture. Junmai Ginjo Muroka Nama
SMV: -2 Acidity: 1.8
Usually I use the Beau-Zone Layer to teach or educate folks about certain sakes that are fascinating or made in a special way or are special designation brews, but not this month. This month I’m picking a sake that just drinks great! What? It’s a great sake and you should try it! Huh? Yup, it’s that simple! Listen to this little wooden doll man when he says go over to the fridge and grab a bottle of Harada. Wait! Something has changed. The packaging is different. It does not have a box anymore, and the label is now red and not beige. But, the sake inside is just as awesome. This is a full-bodied brew that drinks more friendly than a beefy muroka (not charcoal filtered) sake. It has layers of flavors on a flow that just feels great in the palate. I hate saying this, but Harada is one of those “throw the cap” away sakes, that is made to be consumed all at once, immediately, and guilt free!
