Sake Moments - The Year of the Sheep (Goat?)

First I’m going to call it the year of the sheep! Honestly who wants to be a goat for a year? All I can think about is the “Game ball or Goat” scenario in sports terms. And this guy is no goat for a whole year – maybe a month or two but not the entire calendar year. And you know what? No sake drinker is a goat either! But wait! No sake drinker is a sheep either! No sheeople here! No siree! We set the trend we don’t baa baa follow the heard! But if we must be a four-legged wooly creature for the sake of this horoscope then so baa it!

Herewith is your year to come in terms of sake and astrology! Welcome to the year of the sheep:

First an old Chinese proverb speaking to the year of the sheep

I am a passive onlooker
I let bygones be bygones
Goodness brings me fortune
I believe in the human race
I understand the meaning of giving
My cup is never empty
I am loyal and just and in others I trust
I AM THE SHEEP

Baa! I mean Ha! Did you see that? “My cup is never empty!” Never empty – how awesome is that? So in 2015 you better not let your sake cup get empty or you will DIE! Well that’s a bit extreme, but if you read between the lines it basically means drink a lot of sake this year or expect terrible things to happen to you. Hmmmmm. Maybe that’s a little bit of stretch too, but you totally get the big picture. Let’s simply say that your year will be made all the better and luckier if your cup is always filled with sake!

Year of the Sheep January 2015b

The Chinese year of the Sheep 2015 will start on February 19, 2015 (according to the lunar calendar). That is a Thursday and maybe just maybe we will do a little something special in the store for customers who want a special discount so that their sake cup is “never empty” on that day and the rest to come. Please follow us on FaceBook and Instagram to find out what secret and special “thing” will happen at the store on the 19th!

As this is not in my wheelhouse of knowledge I have deferred to the Astrology Club to help forecast the Year of the Sheep. And to help them prognosticate what lies ahead for you wonderful sake drinkers please take note of the following warning:

“What lies in wait for you in the Year of the Sheep 2015-2016? Chinese Astrology has definite answers to this question. And, owing to its five thousand years of existence, its answers can prove to be astoundingly timely and accurate.

These horoscopes are based on Chinese Astrology of the purest tradition. They will not only tell you what may happen to you this year, but they will also give you pertinent advice so you can live a richer and more satisfactory life.” Baa Baa! (I added the Baa’s for effect)

I will now interpret each paragraph of the horoscope in pure sake terms. It’s okay! I am a fully licensed sake professional with a BAA in sheep. So let’s take a long hard look at what you should expect the coming year to hold in store for you and sake!

“The Sheep is a Yin energy, a symbol of Peace, Harmonious co-existence and Tranquility. That is the primary and fundamental mood for this year. Though there are cries for War and a countdown is soon to begin, if any almanac serves me well – War will be averted and a period of mending and compromise will be undertaken to ensure Peace is maintained.“

  • Sake Translation: When sake is “Yin” your cup this year you will no longer need your fake medical marijuana card.

“The Sheep is the symbol of the Arts. It relates to passive and nurturing times. It will help the healing process with regard to past events caused by individuals who have little respect for the human race or life itself. It will be a year of banding together in faith and in belief that good will prevail and win out over the forces that refuse to comply to a peaceful way of life. For those who trust in goodness, happiness and success will follow.“

  • Sake Translation: When sake is in your cup this year you will forget about the turkeys out there that bother you so!

“The emphasis will be on joining forces in order to fight the evil and destruction that has been brewing. With the planet Saturn into the sign Scorpio and the planet Pluto in its long stay in the sign Capricorn, there will be greater concern with structure, getting back to basics and using greater intuition to find solutions to problems that have been plaguing the world for some time.”

  • Sake Translation: When sake is in your cup this year you will finally let go of your resistant belief that Pluto is still a planet.
“Much will depend on this – the balance of international economy and social harmony is in peace. The call for war is not a step to be taken lightly. Though sabers are rattling on either side, as the calming vapors of the Sheep year spreads over the Nations, sentiments will be kindled and wisdom will prevail. Fate will send emissaries to change the faces of aggression towards a more Peaceful compromise. It does not kill the doubts, anger or desire for violence, but it puts a blanket of constrain over it.”
  • Sake Translation: I have no clue. They lost me at “vapors of the sheep.”

“So will it be among family members and bitter economic rivals. Many will look into their hearts and souls and wonder at past passionate grievances and the realization that the road to harmony and economic strength is through peaceful rather than violent ways.”

  • Sake Translation: When sake is in your cup this year you will win the Lotto.

 

“On the family front, it will be a time to unite and instill loyalty and discipline. Angers will cool and decisions that will disrupt family harmony will be laid aside to give it time to heal. So capture the moment to mend fences and broken promises.”

 

  • Sake Translation: When sake is in your cup this year you will no longer need to beat your children.

 

“The aura of the 2015 Sheep year will gradually radiate its way to all. The most turbulent times will be during the period of the Dragon, which is from the Vernal Equinox on March 20th till April 20th, and especially the period of the Ox where a grave threat will again raise its ugly head. This will be from the Day of the Winter Solstice on the 22nd of December till the 20th of January 2016. But for the moment, allow the calming balms of the Sheep’s vibrations to flow through you, and through you, to touch every heart you meet.”

  • Sake Translation: When sake is in your cup this year do not eat beef.
“2015 is a year to use mental abilities over brute force. For those who wish to be aggressive, expect to be out-maneuvered by strategy and common sense.”
  • Sake Translation: When sake is in your cup this year you will gain ESP.

There! It was extremely exhausting to translate this horoscope, but as there was sake in my cup (a lot of it) I feel as if I have showed you the way, the path to follow, the sheep trail for you to pursue for a fantastic and Baa-tiful 2015!
